Dedicated to the preservation and development of the arts in our community
Susanna Kimball Monette

After my husband crossed over in the mid 1990’s, I started sculpting with polymer clay. My favorite subject was always human emotion. In 1999 , I moved from Las Vegas to Cottonwood, Arizona, where I studied sculpture with Cheryl Alexander and sold some sculptures at the Sedona Art Center.
After moving to California City in 2009, I started exhibiting my work at Gallery ‘n Gifts in Tehachapi. A number of customers came there looking for Dream Catchers, so I started making them as well as small sculptures. About the same time, I started experimenting with and selling tie dye.
In 2011, I also began showing my sculptures at Cross Roads Gallery in Tehachapi. From there I joined with other Tehachapi artists to open Tehachapi Treasure Trove, a gallery, gift and art supply store in 2012. I also joined the California City Arts Commission where I have served as Treasurer for three years.
After experiencing different beading techniques while working with dream catchers, I became interested in bead work and loom beading. I create my own designs using an excel spread sheet. I also like to write. Much of my work combines these different skills.
